Safety Statement

At Chic, the safety and well-being of the teens we serve are our top priorities. As a community-based Behavioral Health Intervention Services (BHIS) organization in Central Iowa, we are committed to providing a secure and supportive environment for youth and young adults. Our staff members undergo thorough background checks and are trained in safety protocols, including crisis intervention and trauma-informed care. We maintain strict confidentiality and privacy standards to protect personal information. Our facilities are open to regular inspection to meet health and safety standards, and we have comprehensive emergency response plans in place. We foster positive relationships and encourage open communication, ensuring teens feel comfortable reporting concerns. Bullying, harassment, and discrimination are not tolerated, and we have clear policies to address such issues promptly. We actively involve parents and guardians in the care of their teens and value feedback to continuously improve our safety measures. Our commitment is to provide a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment where teens can heal and grow.

Core Safety Principles

  1. Safe Environment: We maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and physically safe environment. Our facilities are regularly inspected and maintained to ensure that they meet all health and safety standards.

  2. Staff Training: Our staff members are thoroughly trained in safety protocols, including crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, and first aid. All staff undergo regular background checks and are required to complete ongoing training in adolescent development and trauma-informed care.

  3. Confidentiality and Privacy: We respect the privacy and confidentiality of the teens we serve. Personal information is handled with the utmost care and is only shared with authorized individuals on a need-to-know basis, in accordance with legal and ethical guidelines.

  4. Emergency Preparedness: We have comprehensive emergency response plans in place for a variety of scenarios, including natural disasters, medical emergencies, and other crises. Staff are trained to respond quickly and effectively to ensure the safety of all participants.

  5. Supportive Relationships: Our organization fosters positive relationships between staff and teens. We provide consistent support and encourage open communication, ensuring that teens feel comfortable reporting concerns or seeking help.

  6. Zero Tolerance for Bullying and Harassment: We are committed to maintaining a respectful and inclusive environment. Bullying, harassment, or any form of discrimination will not be tolerated. We have clear policies in place to address and resolve such issues promptly and fairly.

  7. Parental and Guardian Involvement: We believe in the importance of involving parents and guardians in the care and support of their teens. We keep lines of communication open and encourage family participation in the planning and implementation of intervention strategies.

  8. Continuous Improvement: We regularly review and update our safety policies and procedures to reflect best practices and respond to the evolving needs of our community. Feedback from teens, families, and staff is actively sought to ensure our safety measures remain effective.

By adhering to these safety principles, Chic strives to provide a secure and empowering environment where teens can thrive, heal, and grow. We are dedicated to the safety and well-being of every individual we serve and are committed to upholding the highest standards of care.
